From Player to Creator: My Research on a Storyboard Artist Role at Paper Games
As a long-time devoted player of the Nikki series, I have always been captivated by its unique, delicate art style and compelling visual storytelling. Witnessing the IP’s evolution from exquisite 2D dress-up to the immersive 3D world of Infinity Nikki, its consistently high visual quality continually fuels my creative aspirations.

Among its many visual elements, the elegant and gentle 2D cutscene animations fascinate me the most. They function like animated illustrations, telling stories through meticulous linework, soft colors, and precise cinematic language, perfectly demonstrating the power of animation and storyboarding in emotional conveyance. This is precisely the field I am most eager to explore professionally.

Driven by this passion, I proactively researched the requirements for a Storyboard Artist position at Paper Games. I discovered that the role demands not only solid hand-drawing skills and spatial perspective ability but, more crucially, emphasizes imagination, understanding of animation performance, and a masterful grasp of cinematic language and narrative pacing. Proficiency in Storyboard Pro and certain project management skills are also explicitly required.

Through self-assessment, I recognize that I have a reasonable foundation in hand-drawing, imagination, and visual storytelling, skills honed through previous animation projects and my internship at SMG. However, I have identified clear gaps in my professional software skills with Storyboard Pro and the project management experience needed to systematically translate complex scripts into visual sequences.
Therefore, my next steps are clear: I plan to systematically learn Storyboard Pro and actively take on the role of storyboard lead in my graduation project. This targeted approach aims to bridge my skill gaps and align my capabilities closely with the standards expected for a Storyboard Artist at Paper Games.
